Hampton Court Palace Friday 7th November saw a small band perform at the famous Hampton Court Palace. The performance, which took place in the evening, was for a private function taking place in the palace.
The band left their headquarters at quite an early time so as to avoid the horrendous rush hour traffic suffered at that time of the day. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a rather impressive “packed lunch” filled with baguettes, muffins and other goodies. After enjoying our food, the band then proceeded to get ready, and during this time, the fanfare team went off to sound a fanfare for dinner.
After the fanfare team returned, it was time for the band to form up to perform. Standing in the dark of night where no one could see them, the command was given and the band and drums struck up to the sounds of Arnhem, a typical military piece. Their performance lasted for around 15 minutes, after which the band marched off to Spring Drills Quick, and back into the dark of night.
